Maison Martin Margiela Tabi Flat - SJP Maison Martin Margiela Tabi Flat

This is not just ugly, it's gross. These are the Maison Martin Margiela Tabi shoes. It is typical of MMM to design horrifically ugly shoes and handbags in the name of "art". The artsy designer used jikatabi, the split-toe socks worn with kimonos, as the inspiration for his heeled “tabi shoes” like SJP’s split-toe pump since 1988. Since then, Margiela has featured variations of his signature tabi theme in his Maison Martin Margiela collection. The centuries old style is all the rage among the terminally chic in Europe and Asia. Yes, they’re very much a statement item and yes, it takes guts to wear them. Margiela may call it “experimental deconstruction,” we call it camel toe.

If you want to make a 'statement', eLuxury.com $775.

Maison Martin Margiela Limited Edition Pegasus Boot

by Administrator 15. September 2008 03:16

Sometimes Maison Martin Margiela does really great designs, and then there are designs like his Limited Edition Pegasus boot. What is with the airbrushing? It's Tacky! He is doing it alot this season, on handbags and clothes. The guy (MMM) does strange designs on purpose. Early in his career he became known for his strange designs. "He made garments of oversized proportions such as long arms, and with linings, seams and hems on the outside. The concept is called deconstruction. MMM redesigns objects such as old wigs, canvases and silk scarves into couture garments." - Wikipedia

I would never wear a couture gown made from a old wig, and I would never wear these hideous, trailor park boots. What's worse, he wants $2,495 for these things. If you want to wear MMM's "art", go to eLuxury.com
