Nicholas Kirkwood and Erdem Shoes Fall 2010

by Administrator 23. February 2010 04:41

The go-to shoe designer at the London fashion shows is Nicholas Kirkwood. Most of the shoes made by NK for fashion shows aren’t available for sale, they are simply props, but this collection, only the second after Rodarte, will be available in stores.

I’m not terribly crazy about these shoes. The prints are unique, but the lace up utility boot design is not my speed. I think they would be great with a side zip up and maybe an open toe, minus the distracting laces.

Nicholas Kirkwood shoes are sold at LUISAVIAROMA.

Nicholas Kirkwood for Rodarte Shoes Fall 2010

by Administrator 17. February 2010 04:29

Nicholas Kirkwood is designing footwear for Rodarte again this upcoming Fall 2010, probably with a pay raise because his last collaboration with the luxury brand was pure genius. This time around Rodarte designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy's collection centered around the theme 'sleepwalking', so Kirkwood had the heels cleverly designed to look like melting wax. And most fabulous of all, the heels slightly glow, as if lit, in the dark. The upper portions of the shoes are twisted swaths of fabric around the ankle and toes, with a contrasting oxford style lace up middle portion, giving the shoes an overall very distinctive look. Some of the shoes have upper portions that are all cut out, lace up in style, but have the twisted fabric swaths at the ankles.

Another hit collaboration for Nicholas Kirkwood and Rodarte.

Nicholas Kirkwood "Alice in Wonderland" Shoes

by Administrator 2. February 2010 04:44

Nicholas Kirkwood has been asked by Printemps department store, one of the largest luxury stores in France, to design a special pair of shoes for a window display to be revealed at the same time as Tim Burton-directed "Alice in Wonderland," which opens March 5. The movie will be huge in France, especially considering it stars their local favorite actor, Johnny Depp. It's an absolutely perfect pick, as Nicholas Kirkwood shoes are often bright, sometimes unusual in a chic way, but always extremely eye catching and fun.

Kirkwood is the only accessories designer invited to participate.  Printemps also invited Haider Ackermann, Charles Anastase, Manish Arora, Chloé, Ann Demeulemeester, Christopher Kane, Alexander McQueen, Maison Martin Margiela and Bernhard Willhelm to interpret Alice's dress. As the Kirkwood pick was perfect, so too are McQueen and MMM. I wish one of our US department stores had such a brilliant idea.

Nicholas Kirkwood Fluro Sandal

by Administrator 1. February 2010 04:26

When I first saw these Nicholas Kirkwood shoes on the runway, I loved the bright color combination and wide cut outs. I can't and don't care to wear bright colors on my body, so I like to have a splash of color on my feet (or handbag). These sandals are green leather with purple python at the heel and a purple leather footbed. The black laces and heel offer a stark contrast and further compliment the bright colors. This shoe doesn't have his signature contoured platform, which, I think, would have made the shoe too busy. $1,261 at LUISAVIAROMA.COM.

Nicholas Kirkwood Printed Flou Sandals

by Administrator 19. January 2010 04:32

Nicholas_Kirkwood_Printed_Flou_Sandals

I absolutely love Nicholas Kirkwood shoes, and these printed Flou sandals are no exception. His designs are unlike any other, always very eye catching, if not for their bright and bold colors then for their unique architectural design. These sandals offer both, for an extra attention grabbing look. They can be worn with anything from simple denim to a LBD.

The 100% calfskin sandals have a covered tapered heel and a contoured covered platform, a rounded peep toe, an elasticated sling back, and are completely printed. Available at LUISAVIAROMA.COM, $1,066.

Nicholas_Kirkwood_Lizard_Sandals

Nicholas Kirkwood shoes are a favorite among fashionista across the globe (Racel Bilson said they are her all time favorite in the January 2010 In Style magazine), for his unique architectural designs. I also love that he uses bright, pretty colors and lots of foot revealing cut outs. This beautiful sandal is light pink lizard with bright pink leather piping and contrasting jet black laces. The color contrast is striking and elicits attention. It has a 4.5 inch lizard covered heel. $1,349 at LUISAVIAROMA.COM.

Nicholas Kirkwood for Rodarte Brass Shoes

by Administrator 13. January 2010 04:05

Nicholas-Kirkwood-for-Rodarte-Brass-Shoes

I have been patiently waiting for the new collection of Nicholas Kirkwood shoes, since seeing this fabulous shoe on the runway. Nicholas Kirkwood is an immensely popular British designer whose shoes are becoming more and more popular here in the US thanks to the Hollywood elite sporting his designs. He designed this particular shoe for the luxury label Rodarte, per their request for a utilitarian, urban chic style. This shoe is just that...to perfection. It is leather and metal hardware is acid corroded brass, with stacked bolts forming the heel. Love it!

They have a 5.7 inch Stacked heel, with a 1.5 inch Brass covered platform. They have a slightly pointed-toe with metal plating, asymmetrical cut-outs all over the front and sides, brass metal spikes on the sides and at the back of the shoes, a metallic leather upper, and a back zip closure. $2,393 at LUISAVIAROMA.COM.
