Chanel Shoes Fall 2011
Aren’t the Chanel shoes for Fall 2011…hideous? If there is one theme in fashion I absolutely can’t stand it’s androgyny. By designing something that a man or woman can wear, it’s simply mens’ wear in smaller sizes. To emphasize his message of womans wear as mens wear, Lagerfeld even had a few men walk the runway. The RTW was hideous and as you can see, that included the shoes. Why he even bothered to throw a bland kitten heel in the collection is beyond me. It doesn’t help. I’m just glad I’m not one of the poor sales people trying to push this collection on clients.
Chanel Shoes Spring 2011
I understand Karl Lagerfeld is a brilliant clothing and couture designer, but I really wish he would leave the shoe designs to someone else, namely Christian Louboutin. Only his genius shoe designs are worthy to stand alongside the Chanel name, because frankly, Karls Chanel shoes are never that great, as evidence in this Spring 2011 collection. They shoes fall into two categories: hideous and halfway decent. The above shoe is one of the ladder, it’s not bad, but I wouldn’t spend a hundred bucks on it, much less over a thousand.
Most of the other shoes, ESPECIALLY the flats are beyond ugly and unflattering. What’s with that odd platform you ask? Apparently Karl was inspired by distressed and ragged edges from the 60′s movie Last Year at Marienbad, a theme that worked well in the clothing, not so much in the shoes.
Chanel Shoes Couture Fall 2010
It’s been awhile since I could say this, but I’m loving these Chanel shoes for Fall Couture 2010. The collection consists sole of slouchy boots, but they vary from roughed leather to highly embellished with gemstones and pearls. They are all statement shoes and guaranteed to get attention and appreciation. Not sure where the price point will be yet, but since they are not only Chanel, but Couture Chanel, several thousand sounds about right.
