Fendi Striped Mules
Mixed media nautical stripes on shoes? Absolutely, if it’s in the form of Fendi’s mule sandals from the Spring/Summer 2012 collection. Bold, red stripes perfectly compliment the thin stripes on the architectural heel, while the precise silhouette makes for a nuanced look. The simple, mule design allows for easy on/off, as well as adequate ventilation for the hot months ahead. This adorable mule is a fabulous shoe to wear all spring and summer and offers a nice variation to the wedge.
Ecru and red striped fabric mules with a slit at the front and natural and black striped geometric cut-out heel, these designer shoes have black stitched white leather welt around the toe. Fendi Shoes Spring 2012
The first word that pops to mind upon seeing the Spring 2012 Fendi shoes is ‘fun’. The collection contained several different styles, somewhat generous considering many fashion houses only offer one or two styles per season, but the common thread is a striped, angular heel and lots of color. There were a couple of exceptions, like a square heeled sandal and a black angular heel sandal, but they still matched the collection’s fun and playful essence.
Fendi designer, Karl Lagerfeld, used plenty of color, but unlike the last Spring collection, the palette is muted and ultra brights and neon are out. Another new element in this collection is the modest heel and lack of platform. While the wedge sandal is usually a staple in Spring collections, Lagerfeld opted out and there wasn’t a wedge to be seen on the ready-to-wear runway.
Th e Fendi shoes for Spring 2012 are what makes a girl look and feel happy, from the modest heel to the pretty colors and whimsical details. More importantly, the designs are very wearable and can be paired with anything from shorts to a sundress, which is a positive selling point in a down luxury market.

Fendi Shoes Fall 2011
OK. I totally get that designers need to change up their collections each season, so I can give Karl Lagerfeld a partial pass on this collection, but what about designing to flatter the female form? For the Fall 2011 RTW collection, Lagerfeld was inspired by the painter Dadaist: a buttoned-up-to-the-neck art teacher who was wild only with her art. Her style was strict but lived-in, and she wore Mary Janes with woolen tights bagged slightly at the knee. Translation: Dowdy, and thats what I think about the shoes in this collection.
The T-strap Mary Janes with the higher heel are decent, but I wouldn’t spend money on them. The chunky heel makes them schoolgirl-ish and awkward. However, they are far better than the low, square heeled shoes that remind me of nurse Ratched.
