Louis Vuitton Shoes Fall 2011

Honestly, I didn’t have very high hopes for the Louis vuitton Fall RTW and accessories collection after I saw what Marc Jacobs did for his namesake collection, but I am quite pleasantly suprised. His MJ collection was plastic and polka dots with clunky rain boots as the main shoe, so you can understand my apprehension, but as is not the case with his own line, for Louis Vuitton he consulted with LVMH’s Bernard Arnault. Thank goodness.

Jacobs said that “discipline and kink” are the themes this collection, and for the shoes that meant a mix of naughty and nice. Pretty little bows on killer heels and corset style lace up oxford boots. This collection is very wearable, yet glamorous, and I think we will be seeing alot of these Louis Vuitton shoes on the streets come Fall.

My first reaction to the Spring 2011 Louis Vuitton shoes was, meh…nothing special, but I need to give Marc Jacobs a bit more credit since it’s better designs than he has done in a long while, and the overall collection, including clothing and bags, is great. The shoes are very basic everywhere but the heel, which included hand beaded “skirts” around the heel and “tiger claw” shaped heel. I really dislike the ladder, they look like decrepit branches and have zero aesthetic appeal. The remaining basic designs are fine, but I expect more from shoes that costs well over a grand.
