Designer Shoes: Reviews and Discussion

Giuseppe Zanotti designed a small collection of sexy, grunge accessories inspired by model Anja Rubik. Corseted lacing and piercings detail this collection, and while I’m anything but grunge, I really like it. I love the asymmetrical cut on these sandals. It leaves the soft arch of the foot exposed while the gold chain drapes across a part of the foot that is rarely seen. And while this chain to barbell is remniscent of a nose to earring chain, the effect is still sexy in non-grunge way. Black leather with gold tone hardware, these designer shoes are the perfect way to sex up almost any look. They have an open toe and inner side cut out. They have a leather sole and insole. The heel measures 4.75 inches. $1, 826 Available at LUISAVIAROMA.COM.

These are the prettiest shoes I’ve seen from Christian Louboutin in a long time. Sure, he consistently makes glamorous, sexy designs, but lady like and simply pretty isn’t what we expect from the master cobbler. These pumps are exactly what I would imagine as Cinderella’s slipper; simple, beautiful and classic. These are strictly formal, evening wear shoes, but that doesn’t mean you can’t wear them a lot. Pair with a cocktail dress or a fitted suit for an elegant, timeless look. Transparent PVC with silver crystal details on the front and along the slingback strap, these designer shoes are nothing short of perfect. They have a peep toe, a leather in sole and signature red sole. The heel measures 4 inches. $1,495 Available at mytheresa.com.

I wasn’t overly excited about the Christian Louboutin Spring 2013 collection. There was nothing remarkable about it, and I feel the same about the upcoming Fall collection. Not to say that we won’t get a few more styles out that are more exciting by the time fall rolls around, but the preview leaves me unimpressed. Take a look:

Ted Baker Poppy Pumps

The curved heel on these pumps had me thinking they were Alexander McQueen, but they not. They’re a Ted Baker design, one of the many mid-priced brands that are putting out high end style. For the fashionistas that are cash strapped, these labels are a blessing. These glamorous pumps come in gold or silver, but for summer, nothing highlights a tan like a flash of gold. Some of you take on a natural golden hue in the warmer season, but for those of us that don’t, apply a subtle illuminator to your legs and, viola, you’ve got an instant glow. Gold or silver leather with intricate, all over cut outs, these pumps have a curved heel. They have a leather sole and in sole. The heel measures 5.25 inches with a 1.25 inch platform. $285 Available here.

Giuseppe Zanotti Sandals

Black and gold is a hot color combination this season, and when it comes to hot trends, no one does it better than Giuseppe Zanotti. He takes the classic T-strap style and makes it chunky with oversized gold tone hardware. The dual ankle straps do nothing to diminish the grandeur of these shoes, but with the rest of the foot exposed, the overall look is bold and sophisticated without being overstated. If you like the Giuseppe look but want a toned down version, go with the Schutz Akshya version (below). You’ll save a ton of cash in the process. Black leather and suede, respectively, with gold tone, pyramid shaped stud details along the T-strap and dual ankle straps, these sandals will flatter any look. They have a leather in sole and sole. The Giuseppe sandals have a 5 inch heel. The Schutz have a 4 inch heel. $149 Available at […]

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a really great shoe design that hasn’t come from a well known designer attached to a high end line. Obviously, Pour La Victoire has some talented people in the company, but based on the style and price point of these sandals I would have thought B Brian Atwood or Rachel Zoe. These shoes are quite versatile considering the multi colors and mediums. The shiny gold hardware and the strappy open toe are indicative of a dressy sandal while the perforated vamp have a sportier appeal, making them great for day to evening wear. These sandals come in three color combinations, but all are made with leather and have a strap across the open toe. They have an adjustable buckle closure at the ankle strap, a leather sole and in-sole. The heel measures 4.25 inches with a .5 inch platform. $350 Available here
