DSquared Azteque Sandals

Feathers seem to be everywhere these days, from our hair to earrings, and now DSquared extended the trend to our feet with their Azteque sandals. DSquared is never one to shy from from adventerous designs, and sometimes they have too much going on and miss the mark. However, the Azteque is perfectly balanced and a great take on the Central American culture.

As the name implies, they have a distinct ethnic look. Set with native gemstones and gold studs, they have an anchient Mayan goddess look, while the dangling feather charm at the ankle adds a bit of playful sex appeal.

Blue suede and brown leather with natural gemstones in gold settings and gold studs, these designer shoes have a self tie at the ankle with a feather and bead charm. The heel measures 4.5 inches with a .5 inch platform. $1,150 DSquared Azteque sandals are here.

Thakoon Tribal Sandals

I do love a great tribal inspired sandal. Louis Vuitton did a great African inspired collection back in ’08, but I haven’t seen anything worth mentioning since. That is, until I came across these Thakoon  sandals. The finely arranged geometric lines bound with brass rings, juxtaposed against the bright red straps make for sandals worthy of the spotlight. Pair with something simple and monochrome and let the sandals shine.

Color block black, white and red leather heels, these tribal inspired shoes feature a toe ring and antiqued metal accents. They have an elastic inset at sling-back strap, a stacked heel and leather sole. They have a 4 inch heel. $995Thakoon shoes are here.

Alexander McQueen Studded Sandals

When it comes to spring 2012 footwear, these Alexander McQueen sandals are the studliest of them all. Season after season, the McQueen brand never ceases to amaze me in their creativity and the dynamic relationship between opposing forces.

These brutal sandals are covered in hardware, but the sexy cutouts and curved heel are ultra feminine, making an overall standout shoe of the season. These are perfect for the girl who loves ankle boots, but need something lighter for the warm weather, or as an alternative to the strappy sandals we’ll see all season long. Part bootie, part sandal offers double the style and an ideal pick for almost any look.

Black leather with all over gold hardware studs, these designer shoes have all over cut outs, an open toe and an open heel. They have an adjustable ankle strap, a 5 inch heel and a 1 inch platform. $2,295 Alexander McQueen shoes are here.

Camilla Skovgaard Saw Platform Sandals

To be perfectly honest, I’m not that crazy about the Spring 2012 Camilla Skovgaard collection. Most of the designs are pretty basic (ie. boring) and not at all the innovative and eye-catching styles we are used to from Ms. Skovgaard. However she did bring back some of her classic, signature designs, like the saw platform. There is a Spring/Summer saw platform pump, as well as this strappy sandal. If you’re looking for unique sandal for the warm months ahead, this one is a head turner. It’s also easy to walk in, thanks to the gripping rubber sole.

Embossed and smooth black leather with an adjustable ankle strap and signature saw platform, these designer shoes strike a dramatic profile. The heel measures 4.5 inches with a .75 inch rubber saw platform. $505 Camilla Skovgaard is here.

Alexander McQueen Nude Studded Sandals

I pretty much have a never ending quest for a distinct nude shoe, be it sandals, pumps or boots, because I like to wear nude colored shoes a lot, but don’t want to be seen in the same shoes time and time again. Needless to say, several similar nude shoes won’t do, they have to be distinguished from the others. If I had not already exceeded my shoe budget for spring, these Alexander McQueen sandals would be loaded in my shopping cart in a skinny minute. They are gorgeous, the perfect shade of nude for my fair skin, and above all, distinctive.

Nude colored leather with all over gold metal studs in a T-strap design, these Alexander McQueen shoes have a unique open heel. There is an adjustable buckle closure at the lower ankle and an elasticized strap at the upper ankle. They have a peep toe, a lightly padded footbed, a 5 inch heel and a 1.25 inch platform. $1,460 Available here.
