Designer shoes 2016: Let’s be honest.

Where shall I start…the misshaped Mason Margiela pumps, the Coach wanna-be Western boots, or the Fleur de lis “let them eat cake” costume boots/pumps (what the heck are they) from Marc Jacobs. Sometimes the designers try so hard to create something that looks “different”, it end’s up looking cartoonish.

There are several styles of shoes for the 2016 Spring season, including sneakers, boots and “flatforms”, flats on a platform sole. But of all the styles and intricate designs from the highest paid shoe designers in the world, these just left me unenthused.

Dolce & Gabbana , Chloe, Salvatore Ferragamo

This season the sandals are very colorful and have a Hispanic flair. Ole!

Loewe, Marc Jacobs, Marc Jacobs

Heavily embellished ankle boots can look great when paired with the right outfit, but hot weather makes me want to wear open toes. I like the Marc Jacob’s boots for Fall, but Coach’s attempt at a boot was a total fail. It has a western look, and everyone knows western boots must be at least mid calf!

Louis Vuitton, Dries Van Noten, Rag and Bone

How many times can I shake my head no on the “flatform”? Just looking at them makes me think of twisting my ankle. They’re clunky, heavy and unflattering. The Rag and Bone sandal looks like something from the Biblical era.

Givenchy, Oscar de la Renta, Gucci

I love slides during warm weather months. They’re easy, breezy and very versatile. I like them with a square heel, tapered heel or a wedge.

Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Marc Jacobs

I only wear tennis shoes to the gym, so these are a total fail for me. However, I will say I love the look of Converse sneakers with jeans and a casual top, a la Ellen DeGeneres.

Do you like any of these designer shoes for spring?
